I'm constantly looking for new inspirations and I look at like and other individuals that not only do what I do but do it well. Enjoy this video. Hope you enjoy it!
Recuenco has a "Painterly" style, like that of my mentor and professor Charlie Freeman. You see his photographs and they look like beautiful paintings. With a mastery of light that surpasses many of the photographers today. This is what separates the men from the boys in my book. Please check out the youtube video of some of his most regarded work. He uses instances of photographic history where if you haven't been to art school, or didn't have a deep appreciation of photography; it may get past you. It's an honor to know that we live in a time that such an artist is alive.
I discovered Recuenco's work reading Vogue. Yes, I was reading Vogue. When I first got into art school I wanted to be a fashion photographer. I couldn't help but noticed how his photographs pull you into a different world. Very surreal and ominous, but realistic at the same time. Then you have to respect his usage of light and how he not only utilized it to expose a photograph but to paint with it as well. There's a photo in this video where there's a woman standing by a cross. Look at the shadows and the story they tell.
This is just one of my "heroes" of the photographic world. I'm not a fan. Nor do I idolize anyone, but there are people I look up to and look forward to. Recuenco is definitely one.
Enjoy the video. This is what I'm personally striving for DAILY.
Well it's time to get back into the classroom! That's right. I'm headed back to the Art Institute of Dallas. Getting my BFA in Photography. I'll miss my instructor and friend Charlie Freeman. I'll keep you posted on how it's going. It's going to be exciting!
I have decided that medium format is the way to go for me in the near future. Not really wanting to go with the price tag, however, I know it will take my images and business to a whole new level. Granted it's not the machinery but the operator; you can't deny quality when you use it. I'll keep you posted when I can get this.
I've been driving back and forward to the Art Institute of Dallas all last week, but with a happy conclusion of getting back to school. But in the meanwhile I've been shooting A LOT. I've had to deal with my studio moving. (Big ups Daniel!) To seemingly all-nighters shooting it seemed like a hundred of iCandy's models. (Hey Londie) Here are some new images to share from what I've been doing.
Now I haven't had much chance to blog as you see. But I'm turning a new leaf. It's time to get into the blogiverse and take share, share, share. I'm posting up some photos I did recently from Kevin and Donyshia's wedding. They're a beautiful couple and I loved photographing this auspicious event!!! And yes it was an event to remember. Lol!!! Man I had fun. Well, for now I'm going to show you a few of my faves from this wedding. Catch you later!
