Made The Switch!!!!

That's right.  I made the switch from Canon to Nikon.  Sure I know Canon just announced the new 5DMkII, but I don't really care about more megapixels.   I want a camera that has exceptional low light capability, and autofocus that is amazing.

I picked up what I consider the "dynamic duo" of Nikon, the D700 and D300.  The D700 really is a D3 in sheep's clothing.  Full frame,  25,600 ISO, weather sealed and so much more including the D3's autofocus. 

I took the Michael Baisden Mic with the D700 in studio with only a goose light that is shines 5600K for my light source in a completely dark room.  What an amazing little light to be at the right place.  Check it out. 

The sidekick of the duo is the D300.   It has essentially the same image quality of the D700, and a good portion of it's specs.  I can shoot up to 6400 ISO which gives me solid low light shooting ability.  

I'm excited to really put my new tools to work.

So I'm editing photos, wrapping up the job in NYC, and getting ready to head to Dallas. The family is excited and so am I. But there's tons of work to get done. I'm trying to photograph the whole city of New York to hang up photos everywhere once we get moved. I have to finish editing a beautiful engagement shoot of Donyshia and Kevin and get it going.

This one great way to remember the city; with a beautiful couple. I'll be photographing their wedding August 2009. We'll be doing one more day of engagement photos, but more of a fun shoot.

By the way the new Nikon D700 has me geeking! I'm really contemplating switching to the "darK" side per Canon users. I feel like Nikon's high ISO performance with pro level focus could make taking photos more convenient. Not taking better photos as in content. That's totally up to to the photographer. But I can get more out of low light situations. That's important to me. We'll see. I'll keep you posted. Nonetheless, I do enjoy my Canon gear.
